Jan Schmolck and Howard Moody complete their cycle of Bach Sonatas for violin and harpsichord that began at Mulberries in March this year, playing alongside Susie Monnington’s new collection of paintings The Light Came And Went.

Wandering the beaches of the Outer Hebrides, ideas for Susie’s new collection began to emerge, whilst Howard composed two new companion pieces to the Bach Sonatas:

Glass Island, composed on Berneray, receives its first performance. It was inspired by the mirrors created by the reflected sunlight bouncing off the sheens of water that cover the sands at low tide. Luskentyre was composed on the Isle of Harris, its lilting melody evocative of the timeless traditions of music that have echoed through the expansive Hebridean landscape.

The programme also includes some of Bach’s music for solo violin alongside music by Arvo Pärt.

This concert brings music and painting together in a unique collaboration.
